G.K.Murthy great artist was born in Kumbakonam in 1940. Since his child hood he took special interest in drawing portraits of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. He had his schooling in Native High school, Kumbakonam. After the completion of schooling he joined Government College of Fine Arts in Kumbakonam and got a degree in Fine Arts. Then he left for Chennai and worked as an Art Director in an Advertising company. He had specialised in the field of Arts. As he was interested in Journalism he started doing illustration work for leading dailies, weeklies and monthlies. In recognition of his outstanding performance in the field of Designing, Central Government selected him for bestowing four National Awards. He was a recipient of the following accolades and awards.

  • Honoured by Kanchi Maha Periayva for designing Epical Artworks

  • Honoured by VGP Foundation Group in the year 1982

  • Honoured by World Tamil Conference in the year 1995

  • Honoured by "SEVA RATNA AWARD" by the Centenarian Trust in the year 1999, Chennai- 600017 for his contributions as an Artist.

In course of time he started writing Articles for leading magazines on various subjects. Particularly his articles were centred on spiritual aspects. His astrological pursuits made him a strong devotee of Sri Saneeswara Baghavan. One day he had the vision of Sri Saneeswara Baghavan who in turn generated a thought in him to construct a Temple. Following this he approached Kanchi Maha Periyava and revealed what he had in his vision. Kanchi Maha Periyava blessed him and told him that he would be successful in his venture in course of time. He established Sri Sarvmangala Sayaputhiran Charitable Turst and Sri Jayasaya Chartiable Trusts. Then he took great effort to construct a temple dedicated to Sarvmangala Sayaputhiran Saneeswara Baghavan. He suddenly passed away. Then his son Mr. K.Manikandan took the responsibility of constructing the Temple that had figured in his father's mind. Now the project on construction of temple is going at Padagacherry in Thiruvarur District. In this connection we request philanthropist to come forward and donate liberally for the on-going Projects.
